A small project with limited data collection
This policy explains what information may be processed when you use Climara and what is stored only in your browser.
Last updated: 4 August 20261. Who operates Climara
Climara is currently operated as an independent, non-commercial project by an individual based in Serbia. Privacy questions can be sent to contact@climaraweather.com.
2. Information used to provide forecasts
When you search for a place or open a location page, Climara processes the location name or coordinates needed to request weather information. These details are used to return the requested forecast and are not used to create a personal account or advertising profile.
3. Approximate and device location
On a first visit, Climara may use approximate city-level location information supplied by the hosting network from the connection used to access the site. This allows Climara to show a relevant local forecast without requesting browser location permission. Climara does not return or store the visitor's IP address in its location response.
More precise device coordinates are requested only after you choose the precise-location option and your browser asks for permission. You can deny or revoke that permission in your browser settings at any time. A city can always be selected manually instead.
4. Information stored in your browser
Climara uses browser local storage for convenience features such as:
- your selected location and recently opened locations;
- saved locations;
- temperature-unit and language preferences;
- limited local forecast history used to explain what changed between updates.
This information normally remains on your device. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser. Core forecasting can still work if local storage is unavailable, although saved preferences may be lost.
5. Hosting and technical logs
The hosting and security infrastructure may process standard request information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamps and security signals. This processing is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose faults and protect the service. The retention of infrastructure logs is controlled by the relevant hosting provider and its configuration.
6. Third-party weather services
Climara requests weather, radar, geocoding and hazard information from third-party services. Requests are generally made through Climara's server routes, but those providers may still process technical request information according to their own privacy terms. Climara does not control their independent systems or retention practices.
7. Email communication
When you email Climara, the message, your email address and any information you include are processed for the purpose of replying, handling your request and maintaining necessary correspondence. Messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or to meet legal obligations.
8. Cookies and analytics
Climara uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate page visits and website performance. This configuration is not used for advertising, cross-site tracking or behavioural profiles, and it does not rely on advertising cookies.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or information about personal data processing. Send requests to the contact address above. You may also contact the competent data-protection authority where you live.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Climara's features, providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
